Roots & Pathways
Movement & Somatic Practitioner
Kathryn Norris is a Chicago-based movement and somatic practitioner integrating yoga, Pilates, somatic exploration, and Eastern energetic practices into a personalized, nervous system–informed approach to well-being.
She uses therapeutic yoga, Pilates, and somatic practices to support people who want to simply feel and move better, as well as those navigating chronic stress, anxiety, sleep challenges, or pain—particularly back and shoulder-related pain. Her sessions emphasize resilience, rest, and embodied awareness, grounded in functional movement, fascia science, and somatic principles.
Kathryn is currently completing her yoga therapy training through an IAYT-accredited program. The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) sets rigorous professional standards, requiring more than 800 hours of specialized study in anatomy, physiology, mental health, chronic pain, and the application of yoga in therapeutic settings.
Yoga therapy differs from a general yoga class by focusing on the whole person—body, mind, and nervous system—and tailoring practices to specific health challenges or life circumstances. It integrates movement, breath, mindfulness, and lifestyle tools to support regulation, resilience, and healing.
This advanced training informs Kathryn’s current private sessions, group classes, and somatic offerings, bringing additional depth in areas such as nervous system care and therapeutic application. For those interested in a more formal yoga therapy approach, she also offers reduced-rate practicum sessions as part of her supervised training. Once fully certified, Kathryn will continue to expand these offerings through Ceres Movement.
