About

Kathryn Norris

Health is connection — to yourself, your body, and the people around you. I work at that intersection: yoga therapy, somatic practice, and movement, in service of whole-person care.

I work with people who want to feel better in their bodies and find more ease in their lives — people navigating chronic tension or pain, disrupted sleep, life transitions, or stress that doesn't resolve with rest alone. I'm a yoga therapist, certified somatic practitioner, and movement educator, and I've spent nearly two decades in practice and training to understand what actually helps.

Health isn't a destination you arrive at by optimizing the right variables. It's a way of living — built through attention, practice, and relationship. The work is to build the conditions from which ease, self-kindness, and better choices become more natural. Not through force or restriction, but through small practices that are genuinely nourishing in themselves and that accumulate into something lasting.

A lot of wellness work right now emphasizes "regulating" the nervous system — as though the goal is maintaining a consistent calm. But a healthy nervous system isn't one that's always calm. It's one that can move between states — active and focused to safe and relaxed — with ease. The goal isn't staying in one mode. It's building the flexibility that lets you feel all your feelings, meet challenge, and return to rest. Movement, breath, meditation, and somatic awareness all support this adaptability.

This work is collaborative and integrative — rooted in evidence-based movement science and yogic philosophy and East Asian healing traditions, and oriented toward whole-person care. Better care for ourselves supports better care for others. Health is connection — to yourself and to your community.

We don't become who we're becoming by rejecting who we are. We become them by tending to ourselves with respect.

What clients say

"Kathryn is an incredible teacher. I came to her because I had terrible insomnia. She listened closely to my needs and used an amazing range of skills and knowledge to help me sleep deeply through the night. She also helped me set goals, make lifestyle changes, and incorporate yoga, yoga nidra, meditation and other practices into my daily routine. She is the most insightful and caring teacher I've ever worked with."

— Julie, 1:1 Yoga Therapy

"After the best night of sleep I'd had in weeks, today my body feels relieved of recent pain. It really doesn't get better than that."

— Jorge, Somatic Yin

"Kathryn's presence and leadership style feel like a hug from a friend you haven't seen in a while. The class was a well-crafted, delightful, and intuitive experience. A dedicated fan of the Yin style or a beginner would equally benefit from taking her class."

— Kevin, Somatic Yin

"It's so hard to find a good yin class where the instructor actually understands anatomy and the practice of yin. I'm so impressed. Highly recommended."

— Lana, Yin Bliss

"Kathryn brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes. You can tell she's very intentional about how she plans the class and she deeply cares about her students and their experience."

— ClassPass, Myo-Yin

"I come away extremely centered, calm, and present. I sleep extremely well the night after. The long-held joint stretches help with pains from weightlifting. I plan on attending each Sunday when I'm free!"

— Anthony, Yin Bliss

"This class was so wonderful! I love all of Kathryn's classes, and this one was so freeing and lovely. There was challenge but the movement was very accessible and she encouraged us to follow anything that felt intuitive."

— Sara, Somatic Strength

"I really loved this class. It's a movement class that encourages you to get into your body as unselfconsciously as possible. The playlist was fabulous and I ended up sweaty and loose by the end. If people did these regularly, there would be far less chronic pain in this world."

— ClassPass, Somatic Strength

"The somatic class was restful for the soul and helped me relieve some pain I was feeling in my hips and spine. Kathryn offered to stay back and show me a few stretches for at home. With my support system in Ohio, it meant the world to me."

— ClassPass, Somatic Yin

"Kathryn's Somatic Yin class came highly recommended and exceeded expectations! She creates a welcoming environment and shares a beautiful practice, filled with warmth and wisdom."

— Kevin, Somatic Yin

"I loved this class! Lots of lacrosse ball-type work for myofascial compression and release, creative use of blocks for hard to reach trouble spots. Kathryn was so lovely, warm, and helpful."

— Amanda, Roll & Reset
